Play Therapy for Kids
Nurturing Young Spirits Through Play
I work with children between the ages of 6-10 years old at the start of therapy.
For caregivers, bringing your kidos to therapy can bring up a lot of complexity. There may be guilt, confusion, hopelessness, or simply wanting to support your children. The fact that you landed on this page shows your deep care for your child and that is vital.

Understanding that children use play as their natural language, I employ techniques like play therapy, tailored EMDR for youngsters, AutPlay, and expressive play therapy. This grants us an entry into their rich world of emotions and thoughts, letting them communicate in a medium where they feel most at home even when words might fail them.
Various Therapy Techniques
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR has a strong track record for supporting children who have experienced traumatic experiences and survived, or who are not thriving in a world that may not be built for them. Learn more about my approach to EMDR by clicking here. We can think of it as turning down the volume for distressing memories. I often integrate Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy into our EMDR sessions. Discover more about EMDR and IFS.

It's important to note that our EMDR approach is tailored to suit the young, evolving minds. Learn more about EMDR for Kids.
Play Therapies
From the captivating realms of Expressive Play Therapy and Filial play to the therapeutic landscapes of AutPlay Therapy and Sand Tray Therapy, I work with a variety of play therapy modalities. The magic of play isn't just a session-bound experience; its healing continues to reverberate in a child's life, helping them navigate their world with newfound understanding & support.

Anti-Oppressive Approaches
A great gift for our children is for them to be able to love themselves in this world. We champion the cause of dismantling harmful stereotypes and prejudices. Our anti-oppressive strategies are all about empowering children throughout the therapy journey while nurturing a collective resilience against the shadows of systemic oppression.

Developmental social pragmatic approaches
Meetings kidos where they are at with full acceptance. This therapeutic approach is grounded in the norms of developmental progress and the learning processes of children aim to enhance a child's capacity for forming significant and beneficial connections with others and to advance their practical abilities. At the core of it all is accepting the child for who they are.
